A browser collects years of extensions and site permissions. A small cleanup can make it easier to use and easier to troubleshoot.
Save what you need
Bookmark important tabs and export a copy of your bookmarks before making broad changes. Confirm that you know how to sign in to essential accounts.
Review extensions
Remove extensions you no longer recognize or use. If you are diagnosing a problem, disable extensions and enable them one at a time to find the cause.
Review site permissions
In your browser settings, review which sites may send notifications or access your camera, microphone, and location. Revoke access that is no longer useful.
Clear selectively
Clear cached files only when you have a reason to. Clearing cookies can sign you out of sites, and clearing site data may remove offline work. Read the selected options before confirming.
